5.4 mag earthquake in the Fiji region

A MODERATE 5.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Lau region this morning.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 506km at 11:10am.

The seismic activity was registered at 69km East Southeast from Tuvuca village, Vanuabalavu, 83km North Northeast from Tubou, Lakeba and 360km East Northeast from Suva.

The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources Department has assured that the earthquake did not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region.
