21 evacuation centres remain operational: NDMO

Update: 3:09PM TWENTY-one evacuation centres remain in operation out of the 41 that were activated from last Sunday night in response to the flooding in the Western Division caused by Tropical Cyclone Josie.
National Disaster Management Office director Anare Leweniqila confirmed that as of this afternoon, the number of evacuees had also come down to 1041 compared to 1868 recorded last night.
He said out of the 20 schools that were used as evacuation centres, they had closed 18 and only two were still being used as evacuation centres in Nadi.
The two schools are Nawaka District School and St Andrews Primary School.
