SWIMMER Moana Wind is ready to compete in the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championship today.

The competition was officially opened last night at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva where the four-day event will take place. Wind, an upcoming swimmer, had excelled from the school level competition earlier this year.

“The team has bonded very well for the championship,” she said.

“Our training had been going well in the past weeks. “I think some of us will get intimidated from the other countries, but I think we have prepared in terms of the mind-setting.

“I went to the two international competition – 2018 Oceania Swimming Championship and New Zealand Nationals Open.”

Fiji will be fielding 38 swimmers in the competition. “I will give my best to make the people proud,” Wind said.

“It is the first time where I will compete against countries such as China and USA. I am excited for the competition, but at the same time I do not what to expect.”

The championship will end on Sunday.
