FREEDOM Alliance Party president Jagath Karunaratne has revealed that supporters of other political parties have showed interest in contesting the upcoming general elections under the party banner.

He said those supporters were interested in the party’s policies and they aimed to make a difference in their respective communities under the party banner.

“Out of the 79 applications received, we have shortlisted 31 applicants for interview and so far, we have interviewed those in the urban areas and we left to interview those from rural areas,” Mr Karunaratne said.

“We have received applications from people who were strong supporters of some prominent political parties in the last general elections. They need to comply with the party policies.

“For us, we are looking for people that have ideas that can convince people.”

They are expected to announce their candidates early next week.
