THE Rewa football side defeated Dreketi 3-2 in the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament in Lautoka earlier this afternoon.
Iosefo Verevou, who has been playing at the sweepers position for Rewa in this tournament, played in the midfield and scored the lone goal of the first spell as Rewa led 1-nil.
Sairusi Nalaubu scored Rewa’s second goal while Taione Kerevanua scored Rewa’s third from the penalty spot.
Dreketi’s Usaia Tadu was sent off for receiving two yellow cards.
Down a man and three goals, Dreketi bounced back to score twice through Shamal Lal and Joseva Bolakivei but it wasn’t enough as the northerners bowed out of the tournament.
Rewa now has to play the waiting game and awaits the result of the Suva-Nadi match which will determine their fate in the tournament.
A win for Nadi or a draw will see Rewa accompany Nadi into the semis while the whites can go through with a win.
