2018/19 Budget: Positive allocation for new mothers-to-be

GOOD news for Fijian mothers-to-be as Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has delivered positive allocations for newborns in the 2018/2019 National Budget.

The Government will give $1000 each to mothers for the birth of their first three children.

A sum of $500 will be debited into new accounts after the birth is registered while another $500 will be given as soon as the child enters Year One education.

Maternity leave is also increased from 84 working days to 98 working days.

Good news for fathers as well as from January 1, 2019, they qualify for five days paid paternity leave, which can be taken three months before or three months after their child’s birth.
