FOR the first time, fathers will be able to take up to five days of paternity leave before or after the birth of their children.

This was announced by Attorney General and Minister for Economy during the 2018-2019 National Budget address in Parliament this evening.

“For the very first time, we are introducing five-day paid paternity leave for fathers effective from January 1, 2019,” he said.

“That leave can be taken three months before or three months after the birth of a child.”
