2018/19 Budget: Naivalu anticipates youth-friendly budget

NINETEEN-year-old Ilaitia Naivalu is looking forward to a budget that will create job opportunities for youths.
He said he had helped his family since he was 10-years-old, selling brooms as a source of living.
“I was about 10-years-old when I started selling sasa brooms with my family,” he said.
“My family of nine goes through a lot of struggles but with the selling of sasa brooms, it has enabled us to survive.”
He said he was hopeful the Budget to be announced tonight will have policies and programs that will help youths.
Last year, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was allocated a budget of $23.1million, of which $18.3million was allocated for operating expenditure, $4.5million for capital expenditure and the difference of $0.3million accounted for VAT.
