2018/19 Budget: Allocation to set up high-speed internet hotspots

Listen to this article:

PART of the $90million allocated for the rollout of Walesi has been used to set up high-speed internet hotspots in the country.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said this included the installation of free high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots for Fiji National University (FNU) students throughout all FNU campuses.

“There is also increased speed on public Wi-Fi hotspots through Fiji,” he said.

These hotspot centres include My Suva Park, Sukuna Park, Sigatoka Bus Stand, Koroivolu Park, Shirley Park Ba Bus Stand, Korovou Market, Syria Park, Labasa Civic Centre and Savusavu Market.

“These are the first places to give Fijians a place where they can get online, share great content with friends and family.

“Everyone can receive high speed internet for 60 minutes every day and that’s the time they’ll have access to Wi-Fi.”
