2018/19 Budget: $2m for national survey

Listen to this article:

GOVERNMENT has allocated $2m in the 2018/2019 National Budget to conduct the 2018 Household, Income and Expenditure Survey.

The Household Income and Expenditure Surveys (HIESs) provide information on people’s living conditions and income/expenditure patterns.

The $2m allocation is under the Ministry of Economy’s total $120.4m budget for the 2018/2019 financial year.

Carried out every five years, the survey collects information about the social economic reality of the country by collecting households’ annual income and expenditure, allowing Government to better target its economic initiatives.

The last HIE survey was the 2013-14 Household Income and Expenditure Survey that was released in 2015.
