MORE than 100 Justices of the Peace (JPs) were sworn in at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva today.
While addressing the 105 JP’s today, Fijji’s Chief Justice Anthony Gates said being a JP was about serving the people.
“Being a JP is not just about putting JP after your name and feeling important at public occasions, it’s not like that – it’s about serving the people,” Justice Gates said.
He also reminded the new JPs that oath taking was a solemn occasion that bound everyone to act honestly and serve the people regardless of race, religion or political views.
There are now a total of 520 JPs serving the people of Fiji.
